“In Pensacola, Fla., a drunken man who passed out on the CSX train tracks sued because he was hit by a train. Pedro Duran, 56, lost an arm and suffered a broken back in the accident. The train’s engineer, who saw Duran but thought he was a lump of trash, blew the train’s whistle for 54 seconds before the collision. Duran was awarded $600,000 for damages.”
“A 27-year-old man was killed while rocking a vending machine that tipped over on him. The man was attempting to steal a drink out of the machine. Relatives in New York are suing for $400,000 in damages.”
“A lawsuit was settled out of court between a teen and a company that sold the nets used for basketball hoops. The boy lost two teeth when they were caught in the net while he was attempting to slam-dunk a ball. The settlement was for $50,000.”
“Jerry Williams sued and won $14,500 plus medical expenses after his neighbor’s beagle bit him on the buttocks. The dog was on a chain in a fenced-in yard. Williams had been shooting the dog repeatedly with a pellet gun at the time of the incident.”
“The Anheuser-Busch Company was sued by a man for emotional distress, because he had no luck with the ladies after drinking their product.”
These were just a few of the many frivolous lawsuits that are filled on a daily basis. It seems that people today are looking to make money, not by working to support there jobs but rather by suing for anything they can. Employers, shops, and restaurants have to fear the customer or workers, because one little slip and the person is suing for a multi million dollars so they never have to work again, but can and are healthy enough. In addition, the sad part of this is that people will real disabilities are fought and troubled when they really cannot work, because of people continuously trying to fight the system. In fact manufactures have had to dumb down there instructions tags….listen to these.
On Sears hair dryer: “Do not use while sleeping.”
On Marks and Spencer Bread Pudding: “Product will be hot after heating.”
On Nytol Sleep Aid: “Warning: May cause drowsiness.”
On a child’s Superman costume: “Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly”.
On a Swedish chain saw: “Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals”
It seems that today people wanting the free life have caused so much trouble that what people would think of as common sense has now became not so common sense. Come on do not sleep with hair dryer, do not stop with hands or genitals, may cause drowsiness. HELLO this is common knowledge….who would be stupid enough to even think of these things. Well obviously, someone at some time has caused such a problem and or sued that people now have to say everything just to cover there rears.
Until recently, I would have just laughed and said whatever. However, after the Super Boob show during half time, I would have to say yes I was shocked, but not enough to say I was scared for life. In many countries, they show full nudity and no one complains, it is normal. Nevertheless, in the Country law makers and civilians are in an up rise saying it was horrible and scared them. Well I think one boob is not going to scar you and if it did, I would say you have more problems. In my final thoughts, how about thinking before complaining. Contemplate as to what you are suing about before it happens, and lawmakers think before you act. Do not change things or allow people to win, when obviously they were in fault and truthfully probably desired what they got. I know I learned a lesson as to never rock a pop machine or lay down on the train tracks….but I guess I knew that before reading what I did.
